Reservation Preservation Book 2 edition by Rachael Wade Literature Fiction eBooks

Sometimes I like to read books together according to a specific theme and the past couples ones have been about teacher/student relationships. I knew I already had Reservation by Rachael Wade waiting to be read so after a quick re-read of the first book I was finally continuing on with this dramatic series.

I fell in love with Ryan Campbell the first time he opened his mouth in Preservation. After losing his fiancee and publishing deal in the same day, he became the epitome of an arrogant playboy with a huge ego. Not til meeting and getting together with Kate Parker did Ryan realize that everything in life happened for a reason and he was able to make a turn for the better in not only a professional manner but in his love life as well.

Fast forward a few months and Ryan is on top of the world. His debut novel is on the brink of hitting shelves and already there is a movie deal in the works. He and Kate are also planning their wedding and looking at homes to move into together. Sadly all good things don't last when Ryan starts getting hounded by paparazzi and bitter ex hookups start spilling the beans on his less than stellar past. It was just heartbreaking for Ryan, he couldn't catch a break to save his life and having Kate still on the other side of the world didn't help matters one bit.

I love that Reservation was strictly from Ryan's POV. I always wondered what when through his head and note my surprise how deep and intense his thoughts were. He definitely seemed to be wanting to do the right thing and it saddened me that less people believed in him each time a new rumor popped up. I did wish Ryan would have done more when it came to how his writing career image was being formed but I'm guessing after losing out once he didn't want to waste this second chance. For a storyline to be so thought out I felt the ending was a bit rushed but besides that I absolutely loved reading Reservation it was fantastic.

Reservation Preservation Book 2 edition by Rachael Wade Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Reservation by Rachael Wade is book two in the Preservation series. This is the sequel to Kate and Ryan's love story. It's always difficult to review a sequel without giving too much away. I hope that you will pick up Preservation and give it a go. In Preservation, we're introduced to Kate, a college student with an angst ridden childhood. Her adult life isn't that great either. She's surrounded herself with male friends, Carter and Dean. She had no time for romance, when it took everything she had just to stay afloat. Ryan is Kate's professor in a writing class. He's not shy to angst himself, having been cheated on by his fiance, which caused him to go on this downward spiral in a sea of women, namely his students. So yea there's a lot of turmoil in the first book and the ending holy moly!!

But now here we are and Reservation is told in Ryan's pov. Something I always appreciate by the way, if it's done right. This is most definitely done right. In fact I'm not sure if the tone of the story would have resonated with me if the pov switched back and forth or even if it was entirely done in Kate's voice. No this had to be Ryan and Ryan alone. I think the impact was harder, the story more emotional, and it allowed us to sympathize with Ryan.

Reservation is one big ball of angst ridden mess. Kate is still in St. Lucia teaching. Ryan is back in Seattle, teaching and kicking off the promotion of his new book. A book deal he stole out from under Kate. When I think on it, it's actually amazing these two even found their way back to each other. Then with all the added junk that happens in this story, well I'm not sure any relationship in real life would survive. In fact, I thought to myself several times that this was it for them. There was no coming back after some of the stuff that goes on.

Poor Ryan.

Ryan only wants to make things right between himself and Kate. He knows he has a lot of making up to do and he's determined to move forward. He wants nothing more than to put the past behind them. But that requires something from himself that he's not too good at going without. CONTROL! Everything about Ryan screams control. Yes he's alpha but not in a caveman sort of way. Yes he's all sexy, tatted up, womanizing, professor bad boy, but he doesn't reek of testosterone. I think of him more as a quiet alpha. He struggles with is lack of control throughout the majority of Reservation. This story though, or the culmination of this story in my opinion, is about Ryan learning how to handle his need to control everything and allowing himself to forgive even himself when he can't.

Reservation isn't just about Ryan though. It's also in a very small way, about Carter, Kate's best friend. If you remember correctly from book one, Carter is in love with Kate. Kate however, does not love Carter in the same way. Ryan and Kate's relationship was a very hard pill for him to swallow and we get to see glimpses of that in this book. It's actually a really good set up for his book, Declaration.

Kate and Ryan's story is a rocky one for sure. They learn many valuable lessons in Reservation. Long distance relationships are very hard. Communication is very important. Love truly does conquer all.
